Book Of Gold Double Chance Slot

  • A common Ancient Egypt theme that fails to stand out
  • Free Spins Bonus is decent but not exceptional
  • Lack of features makes for pretty boring gameplay

Book of Gold Double Chance slot is a new game from Playson that takes a common theme and adds an interesting, more original Free Spins Bonus to try and appeal to players looking for extra rewards. Unfortunately though, that’s the only bonus on offer here so it certainly needs to be a good one to make this slot appealing, but I’ll come onto the bonus in more detail below.

The design is very disappointing I have to say. Book of Gold Double Chance slot does nothing in this department to help the game stand out. We’ve seen the Ancient Egypt theme used many times before so a unique design is very important like with Book of Gods slot. But in this instance, it’s boring and very unoriginal. To make matters worse, you have a 5×3 layout with just 10 paylines and a very average RTP of 95.04% so nothing exciting there. To play the game, simply spin the reels to get a winning combination from left to right using the base symbols and win either a cash reward or a bonus. These base symbols are listed as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:

  • 10, Jack or Queen (lowest value)
  • King or Ace
  • Ankh or Eye of Horus
  • Horus
  • Pharaoh or Wild (highest value)

Book Of Gold Double Chance Slot Bonuses and Features

The Wild symbol here is particularly interesting as it serves several functions. One is, of course, to be the joint most valuable symbol in the game when in a combination of 3 or more. Additionally, it substitutes for all other symbols in a winning combination apart from the Special Expanding symbols which occur during the Free Spins Bonus. Finally, it also works as a Scatter symbol, as 3 or more of these appearing on the screen at any one time will trigger the Free Spins Bonus.

Free Spins Bonus. As mentioned, this is triggered by 3 or more Wild symbols which will grant you 10 free spins for the bonus. What’s more, if you land another 3 of these symbols during the bonus you’ll be given another 10 free spins. The most interesting feature here is that you have special expanding symbols during the bonus. Before it starts, 2 regular base symbols will be chosen at random to be special expanding symbols. When these appear on the screen, they will fill the entire reel to help you get a win. These symbols are paid independently of bet lines. This little feature can be quite profitable if high value symbols are chosen, but provides little value when symbols like 10 or King are chosen.

Conclusion

Book of Gold Double Chance slot from Playson doesn’t really have much to talk about with simple gameplay and just 1 feature. The feature itself is quite nice; I think it’s a good take on what can often be a boring Free Spins Bonus, and the extra expanding symbols can prove to be quite rewarding if they are of high-value in the first place. Unfortunately, however, that’s pretty much all the slot has to offer. Even the base game is pretty full with just 10 paylines to work with. The design is very average and nothing that we haven’t seen before either. So all in all, I have to say I’m not especially impressed with Playson here. They’ve produced much better slots in the past and it just feels like they really didn’t put much time into this one which is a shame. Try it out if you like, but don’t expect much here.
