Erik The Red slot is a brand new game from Relax Gaming, a software developer who haven’t made a big name for themselves thus far but are certainly looking to do so with slots like this. I think they way they’re tackling it is great as well’ keep things simple but offer the chance to win big. High variance slots like this always appeal to a lot of players, and coupled with a good design and fun gameplay, a slot will usually become a hit.
So, does Erik The Red slot hit all these points? Well, I’ll come onto the features in more detail shortly, but the design certainly looks very good. I’m a fan of the short animation at the beginning; while certainly not necessary it just shows that the company have put a lot of time and effort into their game. You have a 5×4 slot reel layout here, set somewhere in the Icy North with Erik and his army. To play the game, you need to spin the reels from left to right in order to get a winning combination using the base symbols. Mystery Stack Feature. This is a very simple feature but surprisingly not one that we see very often. At any point during the game, this feature can be triggered whereby a symbol will be chosen at random to appear fully stacked on all 5 reels. The symbol will appear in stacks at the beginning of each spin.
Free Spins Feature. If you manage to land 3, 4 or 5 Scatter symbols, shown as an ice crystal, you will be awarded 8 free spins. If you manage to collect 4 of them on any reel, it will then lock in place and become full of Wild symbols for the duration of the free spins. Furthermore, every Locked Wild will also give you an additional free spin. To help you achieve the locked Wilds, the reels in which the triggering Scatter symbols appeared will award you 2 of the needed 4 Scatter symbols so you have a better chance of getting the stacked Wild symbols. It’s possible to turn all 5 reels in Locked Wilds for some very big wins, but obviously this won’t happen very often.

There are only 2 features available in this game, free spins and the mystery stacked feature. The Free Spins Bonus can sometimes be pretty worthless, as if you don’t manage to get a stacked reel of Wilds then you only get 8 free spins and nothing else. However, if you manage to get several of these stacked Wilds, with the possibility of getting all 5 reels fully stacked, then you’re looking at a huge payout.
