Eye of Horus Slot

  • A fun bonus with a high hit rate and massive potential
  • Stakes from 20p up to £2 in the bookies, and 10p up to £100 online, with a higher RTP

The Eye of Horus slot is arguably one of the most popular slot games of recent times, it certainly gets the most requests for play on my YouTube channel. Reel Time Gaming seem to have hit the nail perfectly on the head with the Eye of Horus slot, which combines a basic base game, with a free spins bonus that awards a high hit rate, and enough near misses to keep you wanting more. I’m personally not a great fan of the Eye of Horus slot, but I do see it’s potential. The £500 jackpot version in the bookies on their fixed odds betting terminals (FOBT’s) plays well, but is actually better on the lower stakes of 20p, 50p and £1. It’s so popular in fact, that it is actually rare to see it not being played in the bookies on at least one betting terminal. It is also one of the few slots that is available to play in all major betting shops, as well as arcades, bingo halls, and online.

Eye of Horus Online

The online version of the Eye of Horus slot plays the same as the bookies, but it has a higher percentage (RTP), as well as a larger choice of stake options. The percentages actually vary between bookies and arcades too, which is quiet rare.

  • Online RTP96.31%
  • Ladbrokes and Coral FOBT’s: 92%
  • William Hill and Betfred: 94%
  • Arcades and bingo halls: 92%

A higher percentage will always result in more features and more wins in the long-term. Short-term, the difference will not be noticeable. However, the difference between Coral bookies and Coral online is a massive 4.31%, so the online version will result in higher paying features, as well as a higher hit rate on the bonus.

Eye of Horus Bonus and Base Game

The Eye of Horus slot is all about the bonus, however the base game can often be pretty generous, especially when one or more expanding wilds drop into view. The expanding wilds come in the form of an Egyptian Pharaoh and are available on the middle three reels; two, three and four. It is possible, but obviously very rare to land three expanding wilds, however you are far more likely to land one or two.
The base game will ideally keep your balance steady until you hit a bonus. The bonus is awarded from landing three or more scatters anywhere in view on any of the five reels.

Like other popular Reel Time Gaming slots such as Fishin’ Frenzy, the bonus on Eye of Horus is often either very good or very bad, this is due to the unique way in which the game upgrades during play. The only way you will win big is from landing multiple upgrades, but even then it is not a certainty.
The expanding wild Pharaoh awards a symbol upgrade as well as one additional free spin. If two or more Pharaohs land at the same time, the symbols and spins will be added and upgraded accordingly. It is also possible to re-trigger the bonus multiple times. If you are playing online, any re-triggers should result in a massive win. On the fixed odds betting terminals, any re-trigger nearly always results in a win close to the jackpot.

It’s easy to see why the Eye of Horus slot is currently one of the most popular slots in the bookies; it has a high bonus hit rate, as well as the potential to pay big even on the lowest stakes (20p). £2 play is actually too high for this slot in the betting shops as the jackpot is limited to £500, so if it is a jackpot bonus, you often end up with free spins spare, which are retained by the machine.

Online there are no such caps, so play to your budget and hope for the big bonus.

Stake options in the bookies and arcades are:

20p
50p
£1
£2

The bookies have no Fortune or Mega Spins available for this game. Online stakes are from 10p per game, up to £100. The RTP online remains at 96.31% no matter the stake, the fixed odds betting terminals having varying RTP’s depending on your stake, up to a maximum of 92% for £2 play (or 94% in William Hill and Betfred).
