Pirates Charm slot is a new addition to the Quickspin family of games, this time taking the route of a pirate theme. Surprisingly this theme isn’t as common as you would imagine considering everyone loves them, they’re adventurous and there’s just so much you can do. That’s not to say there aren’t any though, you can find other pirate themed slots here such as Wild Cannons slot.
It’s clear Quickspin have focused more on the gameplay here rather than the design of the slot which, although certainly pleasing on the eye, doesn’t stand out at all. There’s basically no animation or movement on the screen apart from the lamps which move every so slightly and the sea gently ripples, but I think they could have done a lot more here to make things more exciting. We’re talking about pirates after all! The graphics are OK and there’s a decent amount of detail, although don’t expect anything groundbreaking. Where this slot really starts to take shape though is with the gameplay, in particular, the bonuses which I actually really like, but I’ll come onto those shortly. Looking at the basic gameplay here, we have a very common 5×3 layout with 243 ways to win which is nice to see. The RTP is also at a fairly decent 96.49% which should be sufficient for more although you can certainly find more elsewhere. To play the game you must spin the reels and try and get a winning combination from left to right using the base symbols which tie in with the theme. These base symbols are listed as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:

Pirates Charm slot also has a Wild symbol, although for some reason they call it a Mystery Charm symbol which substitutes for all other symbols in a winning combination apart from the Bonus symbol.
Pirates Charm Slot Bonuses and Features
Mystery Charm Respins. If the Mystery Charm symbols appear on reel 1, 2 and 3 during the base game then the Mystery Charm Respins bonus will trigger. Each Mystery Charm symbol will lock into place and award you a respin. The real money here lies in the fact that additional Mystery Charm symbols will also lock into place and award another respin, meaning you could see quite a lot appear at once leading to some nice wins.
Mystery Spin. This is a random feature which can trigger at any point during the base game. During the Mystery Spin, you will have more Mystery Charm symbols appear on the screen hopefully leading to a greater number of wins.
Stormy Free Spins. The main feature of the game, Stormy Free Spins, is triggered by 3 Bonus symbols which take the form of a ghostly looking pirate ship. You will start with 10 free spins, but for every reel that is full of Mystery Charm symbols, you will be awarded another 2 free spins. I think they could have been a bit more generous here but it’s still nice to see an option to increase your free spins. Any Mystery Charm symbols that do land during the free spins lock in place, so you could see some pretty big wins here if you’re lucky.
Conclusion
I think Pirates Charm slot is a pretty solid game that has a clear focus on free spins and sticky Wilds (sorry, I mean Mystery Charm symbols). The ideas may not be that original, but actually, the features work well and as a whole incorporate some of the best aspects of the more common features and bonuses into the slot. There’s a main bonus triggered by Scatter symbols which can offer some pretty nice rewards and some features in-game which help to keep things going. Quickspin have done a pretty good job with the theme as well, although the graphics are pretty basic and I feel like they could have made the slot feel more exciting; we are talking about pirates after all! I do like this slot though for the gameplay and it’s medium variance so you could nab yourself some decent wins but don’t expect anything huge.
