It’s been a while since we’ve reviewed a music-themed slot and while not everyone will be into this type of music, I don’t think they’ve overdone it enough to put anyone off. If you find the music a bit much, you can always turn it off of course. The design is pretty good here with nice graphics, and while it’s not the most striking game we’ve ever seen, there’s little to complain about either. I’ll come onto the features in a moment, but the basics of the game are just that. You need to get a winning combination from left to right using the base symbols which are as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:
- Grenade or Swords (lowest value)
- Helmet or Spartan Helmet
- Bass Player, Drum Player or Guitarist
- Lead Singer (highest value)
The Wild symbol is also available and pays significantly more than all the other symbols in a winning combination. It will substitute for all of them too apart from the Scatter, as is the norm.
Sabaton Slot Bonuses and Features
Chained Reels. This is a randomly triggered feature which can occur at any time apart from during Battalion Spins. The game will choose between 2 and 3 adjacent seems, synchronising them to show the same symbol. It’s basically another ways of saying Mega Symbols of Giant symbols or whatever most slots call them. It can work well, it just depends on how high value the symbol it. Ideally it will be a Wild symbol for some big wins.
Last Stand. This feature is also randomly triggered, but it’s also available during the Battalion Spins Feature. This time, 1 or 2 reels will be chosen at random, not necessarily adjacent to each other, and these reels will become Wild to help you get some wins.
Metal Stacks. Sabaton slot will now choose a random symbol for you which will be stacked on every spin, also replacing the Scatter symbol if 3 or more of them appear on the screen.
Battalion Spins Feature. This Bonus is triggered by 9 or more Scatter symbols, not 3 as is usual, and if you’re wondering how to get so many it’s by using the Chained Reels to essentially get a Mega Symbol. You’ll be awarded 7 free spins initially, and reels 2, 3 and 4 will be linked throughout the Bonus, giving you a 3×3 symbol on every spin. Furthermore, during Battalion Spins, a symbol is chosen at the beginning of the Bonus to act as a fully stacked symbol.
