- A round-based slot with a safari theme
- Every 12th spin can lead to better wins
- Free spins bonus can be quite disappointing
Serengeti Kings slot from NetEnt is a new, round-based slot with a Safari theme. The slot Is played in 12-spin rounds with the 12th spin hopefully leading to some good wins, but I’ll explain how it works in more detail later.
There are 5 reels here with 4 rows to give you 26 paylines. To get things going, you need a win from left to right using the base symbols. These are as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:
- 10, Jack, Queen, King or Ace (lowest value)
- Meerkats or Zebra
- Giraffe or Hyena
- Lion or Panther
- Wild (highest value)
The wild symbol is significantly more valuable than any other symbol in the game. It can appear anywhere at any time and will substitute for all other symbols in a winning combination apart from the scatter symbols.

Serengeti Kings Slot Bonuses and Features
Lion and Panther Feature. This game from NetEnt is a bit unusual in that it works in rounds. You have lion rounds and then panther rounds, each with 12 spins. During each round, the lion and panther symbols that appear will be collected into their respective counters. Then, on the 12th spin, the respective feature is triggered. For the Lion feature, all lion symbols collected will be placed randomly on the reels after they stop. The same happens for the Panther feature but with the panther symbols of course. If a lion symbol is placed on top of a panther, or vice versa, it turns into a wild. If they place on top of the same symbol (lion onto lion, for instance), it turns into a multiplier symbol, increasing by 1x for each symbol added onto it.
Free Spins Bonus. This is triggered by 3 or more scatter symbols appearing anywhere on the reels to give you 12 free spins. If you only trigger the bonus with 3 symbols, the lion and panther counters will start at 0. If you trigger with 4, they start with 4 symbols and with 5 scatter symbols, they start with the number in there when you trigger the bonus, plus 5. As you can see, starting with more scatters can significantly increase your chances.
Serengeti Kings slot from NetEnt is a bit of an unusual one from them as it uses rounds as the main feature. These rounds are available during both the free spins and the base game. Every 12th spin, the respective symbol for that round will be added to the reels which can create some wilds and multipliers for better wins. The free spins bonus doesn’t change things that much, but it can start you out with a lot of symbols in the counter to increase your changes quite significantly. While this can be good, it does mean that when you trigger the bonus with only 3 scatters, as will often be the case, the bonus doesn’t really offer much. Overall, if you like the idea of playing slots in fairly short rounds, you might want to try it but I’m not a big fan. I would have liked to have seen more done with the free spins bonus personally. You can see some of their other slots here if you’re interested.
