The Curious Cabinet Slot
- A new, spooky slot from IronDog
- Some interesting features including high-value Scatter symbols
- Offers some big wins and enjoyable gameplay
IronDog have produced a new slot with a creepy theme called The Curious Cabinet slot, and we’re going to take a look at how well it performs and if it’s worth your time. The look and feel of this slot is probably the most intriguing aspect of it, set inside a creepy house with lots of strange objects such as skulls, potions and even monsters. It reminds me a lot of House of Doom slot but is different enough that it’s clearly not a copy of any sort. Don’t worry if you scare easily though, it’s not too terrifying and you should be able to cope.
You’ll notice that you have a 5×4 layout here and that offers 40 paylines, but interestingly a lot of the pays you’ll receive with be through Scatter symbols, but I’ll go into more on that shortly. All you need to do is spin the reels to get a winning combination from left to right using the base symbols which are as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:
- Butterflies (lowest value)
- Heart
- Frog
- Orb
- Potion
- Skull
- Stick (highest value)
The Curious Cabinet Slot Bonuses and Features
Wild Symbol. There’s also a wild symbol in The Curious Cabinet slot, shown as a wild rose. These can appear anywhere on the reels and will substitute for all other symbols in a winning combination apart from the Monster, Doll and Drawer symbols. They pay as though they were the highest value symbol in the game, and more than one can appear at any time.
Doll Symbol. The Doll symbols are interesting as they pay as Scatter symbols when a minimum of 4 of them are present on the screen at any one time. If you manage to get the maximum amount of 15 present, you can expect a huge payout. Additionally, winning Doll symbols can turn into 1×3 Doll symbols, which also open their mouths to scream.
Monster Symbol. The Green Monster symbol also pays as a Scatter symbol when 4 or more of them are visible on the screen, up to a maximum of 18. These can also change shape when in a win, but to a 2×2 symbol rather than a 1×3 symbol.
Drawer Symbol. There’s a silver drawer symbol that can appear on reels 2 and 4, which can offer you a prize when it lands. This could be one of the following:
- Respin Card. Grants you a respin with sticky Wilds that’s guaranteed to payout.
- X2 Multiplier Card. As you might have guessed, this will payout double any winline or Scatter.
- Silver Coins. This will just give you a small cash reward.
- Free Spins. This is the most interesting reward and will grant you the Free Spins Bonus.
Free Spins Bonus. If 2 Silver Drawers appear on the reels, or you get the reward from a single drawer, you will be offered 8 free spins. During the bonus, a row of 5 Gold and Silver Drawers will appear, and on every spin at least one of these drawers will open to give you a reward. The Gold Drawer can offer you either a x5 multiplier card to multiply any win by 5, or gold coins to give you a larger instant win. Additionally, up to 3 expanding Wilds can appear on any spin during the bonus.
Conclusion
The Curious Cabinet slot from Irondog is certainly an interesting concept, with a spooky theme and unique features. I really like the design and idea of this slot, it’s different and kind of creepy, but obviously not so much as to scare you away! The features are pretty simple but different from what you normally see. The special Scatter symbols are a great way to earn some big rewards and goes beyond the 40 paylines for the base symbols. The Free Spins Bonus is decent, although not the most rewarding we’ve ever seen; I think I would have liked to have seen additional free spins available here either by winning more or just starting out with more. All in all though, not a bad slot. It’s definitely quite high variance so bare that in mind, but I enjoyed it and I think you will too.
