The Great Chicken Escape slot from Pragmatic Play is clearly based on the famous movie Chicken Run and borrows a lot from that movie. It’s a fun idea, and there are a lot of features here to get you excited, but is it any good?
Well in terms of the design I think they’ve done a decent job. It’s not quite as clear or subtle as some other slots out there, but it’s colourful and the graphics are nice. You have 5 reels with 3 rows offering 20 paylines in total. You just need to get a winning combination from left to right using the base symbols. These are as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:
- Jack, Queen, King or Ace (lowest value)
- Green or Blue Chicken
- Purple or Red Chicken
- Logo (highest value)
There’s a wild symbol too, available on every reel, which substitutes for all other symbols in a winning combination apart from the scatter symbol. The scatter symbol can also appear on all reels and is used to trigger bonuses as we’ll soon see.

Conclusion
If The Great Chicken Escape slot from Pragmatic Play seems complicated, that’s because it is. As you probably know I’m a fan of a good range of features, but in this instance I just don’t feel like they properly connect and it’s a bit much at times. It certainly takes a lot of getting used to, however some of the features can be quite fun and rewarding. It’s a reasonably high variance slot, although not on par with some megaways slots, for instance. I certainly appreciate the effort they’ve gone to hear to make this game interesting, but I think it could be more cohesive to appeal to a larger audience.
