Here we have one of the latest slots to come from Netent, Fire Siege Fortress slot, and with it comes a great sense of adventure. In fact, I really like the theme here, it’s a bit different and quite exciting, set in medieval times with fire-breathing dragons.
One of the first things you’ll notice about this game is the way the reels are set up. You have a 5×3 grid here, but on top of reels 1, 3 and 5 you have an additional position. As you’ll see shortly when I explain more about how the game works, these positions are used for some of the features. The symbols in this game are all very well suited to the theme and look quite impressive, with your aim being to get a winning combination of the base symbols from left to right to win a cash prize or a bonus. These base symbols are listed as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:
- 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace (lowest value)
- Hammer, Axe or Sword
- Knight
- Dragon (highest value)
In addition to these base symbols, there’s also a Wild symbol that substitutes for all other symbols in the game apart from the Scatter symbol.
Fire Siege Fortress Slot Bonuses and Features
Fire Seige Free Spins. This bonus is triggered by 3 Scatter symbols, shown as a crown, appearing on reels 1, 3 and 5. Every Scatter symbol that appears at the top of the reels will award you 6 Fire Seige Free Spins, and any symbol that appears in a different position will award just 3 free spins. Unfortunately, there’s nothing particularly special about these free spins, but it’s still nice to have.
Fire Free Spins and Tower Coin Win. If 2 of the Scatter symbols appear on reels 1, 3 or 5 then the Fire Free Spins will activate or the Tower Coin Win, if at least 1 of the Scatter symbols appears at the top of reels 1, 3 or 5. The Fire Free Spins on offer is just 3, while the Tower Coin Win will grant you 5x the awarded bet.
Archer Attack. If a Wild symbol lands on the bottom position of reel 2, the Archer attack feature will be activated. This will cause between 1 and 3 Wild symbols to appear on the screen and hopefully give you a better chance of getting a winning combination.
Dragon’s Breath. If a Wild symbol lands on the bottom of reel 3, the Dragon’s Breath feature will trigger. This will cause an expanding Wild symbol to appear on reel 3 so that the whole reel becomes Wild.
Trebuchet Assult. Finally, if a Wild symbol lands on the bottom of reel 4, the Trebuchet Assult feature will activate. This will cause 1 or 2 Giant Wild symbols to appear on the reels, again increasing your chance for some wins.
Conclusion
Fire Siege Fortress slot is a very interesting new game from Netent and not one that I wouldn’t immediately recognize as part of their brand if I didn’t already know. Things here have been done quite different, and while I often praise companies for doing things outside the box, in this instance I’m not such a big fan. All of the features here are triggered by symbols appearing in odd positions, and you could be forgiven for forgetting what symbol has to appear where to trigger a bonus. The Free Spins Bonuses are ok, but it would have been nice to see some extra features available during the free spins as many competitors offer. The other features themselves aren’t too bad either, but don’t expect any huge wins to come from this game. I do like the theme though, and it looks pretty good overall, so give it a try if you’re looking for something a bit different but bear in mind that this is a lower variance slot.
