- An interesting sequel based on King Midas
- Multiplier wilds can add together and apply to all wins
- No base game features is a real shame
Hand of Midas 2 slot is the long awaited sequel from Pragmatic Play. It’s based on the popular king from Greek Mythology who turned everything he touched into gold, not realising that this would apply to things he loved too such as his family, turning what seems like a fantasy into a cruel curse. It’s a nice-looking slot and this sort of theme is one of my favourites as a fan of Greek Mythology. There are 5 reels to play on with 3 reels, giving you a total of 20 pay lines. Just spin the reels and look to get a winning combination from left to right using the following base symbols:
- 10, Jack or Queen
- King or Ace
- Cup
- Fruit
- Chest
- Statue
- God
- Midas

Hand of Midas 2 Slot Bonuses and Features
Wild Symbol. This will substitute for all other symbols in a winning combination apart from the scatter and can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. Whenever it lands, it will also have a multiplier on it up to 10x that applies to the total win of the spin. If more than 1 wild multiplier is present on the spin, the values will add together before being applied.
Free Spins Bonus. In order to trigger this, you need to land 3 scatter symbols. For each one that appears, you’ll get 3 mini reels, each with 1, 2 or 3 free spins. They’ll all spin and award a total number of free spins for the bonus. Here, wild symbols that land will remain sticky and still carry multipliers up to 10x each. This multiplier does apply to the general multiplier, but can only add their values once. Lastly, you can land scatters on reels 1 and 5 together in the bonus, retriggering the bonus.
Bonus Buy. In some regions you can buy the bonus for 100x your stake, giving you 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols at random. This is the only bonus buy option unlike the first instalment of the game.
Conclusion
Hand of Midas 2 slot from Pragmatic Play is an interesting sequel from the developer. It looks great and I still like the theme of course, and the multiplier wilds can work really well in the free spins bonus and even the base game at times, especially if you add a few big ones together. The base game is lacking though as aside from the wild multipliers, there are no features here which means gameplay can quickly become dull whilst you wait for the main free spins bonus. It’s a good bonus I must admit, with multipliers able to achieve some high values although without the unique mini reels at the start, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. To top it all off, the RTP of this slot is lower than the original which is a shame. Personally, I’m not too sure whether this one is worth it over the original or other alternatives out there, and I would have liked to have seen more on offer.
