Pirates: Smugglers Paradise

Sharing is caring!

Pirates: Smuggles Paradise Slot

  • Another Cluster Pays slot with a simple but bright design
  • Lots of features including Free Spins and multipliers
  • Ability to choose between certain features within Free Spins

Pirates: Smugglers Paradise slot from Yggdrasil Gaming is a new Cluster Pays slot with some interesting features. We’ve seen quite a few Cluster slot lately like with Tiki Fruits slot, but this one is certainly more unique in the way it plays and offers some interesting bonuses including free spins and multipliers. I’ll come onto these and how the whole Cluster Pays works shortly though.

For now, let’s talk about the design. Yggdrasil are known for having great graphics and often an interesting story behind the theme. Pirates: Smugglers Paradise slot certainly doesn’t look bad, but I wouldn’t say it’s as quite a high standard s we’ve come to expect from them. It’s a bit more basic with less detail in the design and symbols, but it’s definitely pleasing on the eye and I can’t really complain, especially when the theme is pirates. You have a 5×5 grid that works by paying out for Clusters, and I’ll explain more on how this works shortly. All you need to do is spin the reels to try and get a Cluster of winning base symbols which are listed as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:

  • Spades, Clubs, Diamonds and Hearts (lowest value)
  • Hook
  • Alcohol
  • Sword
  • Gun
  • Parrot
  • Green Pirate
  • Purple Pirate
  • Red Pirate (highest value)

Pirates: Smugglers Paradise Slot Bonuses and Features

Dropdown Wins. The way Pirates: Smugglers Paradise slot works compared to your traditional slot is by landing at least 6 adjacent symbols in what is known as a Cluster. If 2 or more winning clusters are present, then the lower paying symbols will be turned into the highest paying symbols for a better win, regardless of the size of the Clusters. If there is more than 1 higher paying symbol, the first symbol whose cluster observed from the leftmost reel is used to transform the rest of the clusters. All non-winning symbols will be removed from the screen and the winning symbols will drop down, allowing new symbols to fill the screen. This will continue so long as new winning symbols appear to drop down.

Free Spins Bonus. There’s another symbol in the game, the Bonus symbol if you like, shown as a scroll. If 3 of these appear during a single round then the Free Spins bonus is triggered and you’ll be given 7 free spins. You can choose 1 or 3 Free Spins Modes:

  • Win Fall. 2 additional winning symbols will be added to each dropdown.
  • High Seas. All low paying symbols will be removed from the reels.
  • Multiplier Madness. The multiplier will not be reset at the end of each dropdown, instead, it accumulates through the entire Free Spins Bonus until no more free spins are left.

Multiplier Feature. If you fill an entire row with winning symbols, a multiplier will be awarded for the current game round. If you fill more rows with winning symbols, the multiplier will increase. It resets after each spin unless you’re playing the Multiplier Madness feature as mentioned above during the Free Spins Bonus.

Win Count-Up. Wins are counted by multiplying the symbol’s value by how many winning symbols there are. If a multiplier is active from filling a full row with winning symbols, this will be applied to the total win as you’d expect.

Conclusion

Pirates: Smuggles Paradise slot from Yggdrasil Gaming is a Cluster-type game with a few unique features. It’s hardly surprising that Yggdrasil have changed things up a bit here as they’re known for offering some pretty unique features and this is no exception. The various free spins modes are nice to have although I’m not sure they’re all as appealing as each other, with the multipliers being able to offer the biggest payouts but at a higher risk. The multiplier feature works well and isn’t something we’ve seen before in a cluster slot, and the way wins are calculated is also interesting with the base symbols. It’s not a slot that offers the biggest payouts in the world, and I would say this is a medium variance slot. Payouts tend to be quite regular but not usually of high-value. If that’s something that suits you, and you like Cluster slots, this is a game that I think you might really enjoy and should definitely check out.
