Volts and Bolts is a brand new slot from SG with a whacky theme and some crazy gameplay. It’s set in the heart of a mad scientist’s lair with all sorts of contraptions and potions lying about for some crazy experiments. There’s even a cool intro at the beginning of the game so you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. It feels as though he might be working on a Frankenstein-like monster but don’t worry because actually, SG has done a good job in making sure the design isn’t too spooky unlike what we’ve seen in other slots such as House of Doom slot.
Just as the design is brilliant, as too are the graphics which are top notch and there’s plenty of detail here too. There’s a lot going on behind the reels and even a spooky mist hovering above the floor. This is easily one of the best looking slots we’ve seen and I really appreciate the effort that’s gone into the game here. Unfortunately, not quite so much can be said about the gameplay is a little strange and not as rewarding as we’d have liked but still pretty good. Before we go on to the features and bonuses though, you should know that this is a 95.63% RTP slot, fairly standard if not a little on the low side, with a 5×3 layout and 50 pay lines. Nothing really wrong there although we would have liked to see that RTP stretch to about 96%. The aim of the game is to get a winning combination using the base symbols from left to right in order to win some money or a bonus. These base symbols are listed as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:

- Volts and Bolts Logo (highest value)
There is, as you would expect, a Wild symbol in Volts and Bolts slot which can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 which substitutes for all other symbols in a winning combination apart from the Scientist symbol and the Robot symbol which both trigger bonuses as discussed below.

Free Spins Bonus. If 3 or 4 Scientist symbols are scattered anywhere on the reels then you will active the Free Spins Bonus and receive 12 free spins with an initial 2x, 15x or 100x total bet multiplier. During the free spins, the middle reel only has Scientist and Wild symbols for some bigger payouts. The free spins can be retriggered at any time by landing 3, 4 or 5 additional scattered scientist symbols.
Robot Bonus Spins. If 6 or more Robot symbols appear scattered on the reels then you’ll win 5 Robot Bonus spins. The symbols that were part of winning the bonus will lock into place and remain there for the rest of the bonus. Any additional Robot symbols that appear during the bonus will also lock in place for the duration. The Robot spins end when all 5 have been used up or all 15 positions have Robot symbols (don’t count on this happening all that often). At the end of the spins, your reward will be based on the number of adjacent locked Robot symbols, with 1 symbol giving you 1x multiplier, 2 giving you 3x multiplier and 3 giving you 5x multiplier. What you really want though is 4 or more adjacent symbols so you can win one of the Jackpots displayed above the reels:

The Mini Jackpot awards 20x total bet, the Minor Jackpot awards 100x total bet, the Major Jackpot award 2,000x total bet and the Grand Jackpot awards the biggest 5,000x total bet. Also note that this bonus can be triggered during the free spins.
Conclusion
That’s about all there is to Volts and Bolts slot. I have to say that when it comes to the design and theme, I’m a really big fan and it’s one of the most fun and impressive looking slots we’ve seen. The gameplay is also pretty solid and works well with the theme. There are two main Scatter symbols to look out for with the Robot spins obviously having the potential to be the most valuable but don’t count on it, it’s a fairly high variance slot. All in all a well-made, fun game from SG that I think quite a few players will enjoy.
