You would hope that they’d come up with some pretty spicy slots with a name like that, so let’s take a lot of their most recent offering, Ways of Fortune slot.
This is a game that’s based around China and some of their many traditions, with symbols including dragons, swords and helmets, and of course the pretty stunning background with beautiful waterfalls and traditional Chinese buildings. The graphics aren’t as colourful or vibrant as some other slots like the recently reviewed Viking Clash slot, but they are very nicely detailed and look like they could be hung up in a museum (ok, maybe that’s a little too far). The design of the reels themselves is also pretty interesting, with a 5×3 layout but another 3 positions on top of reels 3, 4 and 5 which have a particular function during the game which I’ll come onto shortly. Interestingly, there are 576 ways to win here, and an astonishingly high RTP of 98.12%, one of the highest we’ve ever seen on a slot like this. In order to play the game, you must spin the reels in order to get a winning combination from left to right using the base symbols. These are listed as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:

It’s interesting to see that every symbol has a unique value with many slots grouping certain symbols together such as the suit symbols. It also serves its basic function as a Wild symbol in that is substitutes for all other symbols in a winning combination apart from the Scatter symbol.

Ways of Fortune slot by Habanero, unfortunately, seems to lack anything of real substance in terms of getting any decent wins. On the one hand, I like how they’ve added a few additional positions in order to make the game a bit different, but it doesn’t really do much to add anything useful to the game. The main bonus, or should I say the only bonus, is based around free spins but unlike many competitors, Ways of Fortune slot doesn’t add any extra features during the free spins and you can’t even re-trigger them. All in all, the gameplay is very basic and quite unrewarding so there’s very little I can say to recommend this game. I hope in the future Habanero can start to add some more features and allow players to earn some bigger rewards but for now, they still have a long way to go.
