Wild Plunder slot is a new game from NextGen that has a big focus on great design and some fun features. I think that’s the main appeal of this slot, the fun factor, as while the functionality of the game is still pretty great as I’ll discuss, there are slots out there that offer better and bigger payouts.
Speaking of the design then, this is of course a pirate theme with some classic symbols like Davy Jones and pints of beer. The symbols aren’t surrounded by a border and I personally would prefer one, but at the same time it’s nice to see something a bit different. The backdrop is the most stunning aspect of the design though with beautiful colours and a fun animation with the world spinning around as you play. This plays into one of the features in fact, but I’ll discuss that more below. What you have here is a 5×3 setup with 25 paylines which is all pretty standard. You just need to spin the reels to try and get a winning combination from left to right using the base symbols which I’ve listed as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:
- Wooden, Bronze, Silver and Gold Coins (lowest value)
- Pints of Beer or Treasure Chest
- Davy Jones
- Octopus
- Wild Plunder Logo and Jolly Rhonda (highest value)
The Wild Plunder Logo and Jolly Rhonda symbols are both Wild symbols but have a few differences. Jolly Rhonda is Wild for all symbols in the game and with 2 or more of them you can trigger the Wild Spins Feature (see below). The Wild Plunder Logo symbol is will for all symbols apart from Jolly Rhonda and it may be added during Wild Currents and Wild Spins Features.
Wild Plunder Slot Bonuses and Features
Wild Spins Feature. As already mentioned, if you land 2 or more Jolly Rhonda symbols this feature will activate and you can receive up to 5 Wild spins. For these, all adjacent Octopus, Ghost, Treasure and Mug symbols will turn into the Wild Plunder Logo symbols for the current spin. Awards are then given and Jolly Rhonda will move to a random position on the left adjacent reel and will remain in place until the end of the respin. If multiple Jolly Rhondas stay on the same reel they will move around and those on reel 1 will be removed for the next spin. The feature will continue if additional Jolly Rhonda symbols appear on the reels.
Wild Currents. This s a feature available on any random base spin whereby bad weather can spin the globe. If an island lands above reel 3, between 3 and 9 Wild Plunder Logo symbols will appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 for some extra wins.
Rhonda’s Respin. The Jolly Rhonda symbol can also be used to trigger this feature if just one of these symbols lands on the reels. The reel it’s on will be held in place while all other reels spin and will hopefully help you win the Wild Spins Feature.
Release The Kraken Feature. This is just a simple feature whereby the Kraken may appear at any point at the end of a base spin. If it does, it can replace 1 or more symbols with Jolly Rhonda Wild, again helping you to get a Bonus.
Conclusion
Wild Plunder is a new, fun game from NextGen that offers great visuals and plenty of bonuses to keep things interesting. Although I would prefer some borders around the reels, the colours are fantastic and the graphics are great so no complaints from me here. The main feature to focus on is the Wild Spins Feature which can generate some pretty nice payouts, but nothing quite as big as some other slots we’ve reviewed like Vikings Unleashed Megaways slot.
