Xi You Ji slot comes from Pariplay, a lesser known software developer that I don’t believe we’ve reviewed here at StopandStep before. They’ve gone with a cool Chinese-style theme that reminds me of the TV Show Monkey from back in the 80’s. I think they could have gone a bit further with the theme here during the base game, perhaps with animations or something like that but the slot as a whole still looks good and I can’t really complain, although it’s not as visually appealing as some games from the bigger companies out there. You’re given the typical 5×3 layout to work with that offers 25 paylines. With these, you want to try and get a winning combination from left to right using the base symbols. These are listed as follows, ranked in ascending order based on their value:

- Queen, King or Ace

- Pig
- Blue Man
- Wise Man
- Monkey

Xi You Ji Slot Bonuses and Features
Lantern Bonus. The Lanterns are what make this slot unique. They start to fill up when you get a win and are used to give you various features like free spins, sticky Wilds and maybe even Jackpots!
Sticky Wilds. This is awarded through the Lantern Bonus and could offer you between 2 and 5 Wild symbols. These will be sticky for up to 5 spins. As you’d expect, these Wild symbols substitute for all other symbols in a winning combination.
Free Spins Bonus. Most slots, of course, have a Free Spins Bonus, and Xi You Ji slot is no exception. It too is awarded through the Lantern Bonus and you could win either 10, 15 or even 20 free spins to work with. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to say about these free spins. We often see additional feature available but because there are so many other features in the game, Pariplay didn’t see the need to. I kind of wish they did add something but nevermind.
Instant Prize. Another simple feature available through the Lantern Bonus is the ability to win a multiplier. This can be up to 12x which isn’t bad, but we’ve obviously seen far higher multipliers available on other slots.
Jackpot Wheel. This is the most exciting feature in the game in my opinion, and why wouldn’t it be, it’s a Jackpot Bonus! This can only be achieved through filling all 5 of the lanterns in the Lantern Bonus. You’ll get to spin the wheel and one one of 5 Jackpots offering the following rewards:
- Mini Jackpot – 50x total bet.
- Minor Jackpot. 200x total bet.
- Major Jackpot. 500x total bet.
- Maxi Jackpot. 700x total bet.
- Grand Jackpot. 1000x total bet.
The Sacred Journey Bonus. This is a pretty cool Bonus and a fun one at that. It’s triggered, unlike all the other features, by 3 Scroll symbols appearing anywhere on the reels at the same time. You’ll get to play a bit of a game where you can collect multipliers and the 3 disciples in order to win a prize of 1000x your total bet.
Conclusion
Xi You Ji slot (don’t worry, I don’t expect you to be able to pronounce it) from Pariplay has some pretty cool features and is, without question, a lot of fun to play. Unlike a lot of slots that combine features together, for example using free spins to offer sticky Wilds or multipliers, or even both, Xi You Ji slot instead offers lots of features separately using the Lantern Bonus. Some of these are fun like the Sacred Journey Bonus and of course the Jackpot wheel, while others just keep you ticking.
